Genus Isurus

Isurus Rafinesque, 1810

Large fusiform sharks with a rather slender trunk and conical very pointed snout; teeth slender, smooth-edged, without tateral cusplets; the first two teeth in each jaw more slender and more flexible than the others. First dorsal fin origin always posterior to inner corner of pectoral fins; caudal pits present as transverse furrows; caudal fin without a secondary longitudinal keel below the main caudal keel.
