Rhizoprionodon Whitley, 1929
Small sharks (less than 150 cm TL). Snout tapering to a narrow to bluntly rounded tip. Eyes round to oval; mouth wider than long. Teeth smoothedged to finely serrate, oblique cusps except for the most anterior teeth, these erect with narrow cusps. Gill openings short, approximately equal to eye diameter. First dorsal fin relatively large; pectoral fins short; second dorsal fin origin posterior to anal fin origin; inter-dorsal ridge present or absent (even within species).
