Mobula Rafinesque, 1810

Mouth slightly inferior; teeth present in both jaws; flanges on the outer margins of adjacent gill-plates generally not fused together (except in one species). Cephalic fins or 'horns' thin and pointing a little downward; tips of pelvic fins projecting little behind margin of pectoral fins; serrated spine present or absent on top of base of tail. Upper surfaces with thornlets in adults.
