Diagnosis: dorsal fin with a glandular part. Snout blunt. Jaws curved. Dorsal fin with 93-97 rays; its origin above myomeres nos. 10-11. Anal fin with 54-55 rays; its origin 5 myomeres behind anus. Myomeres 94-102. Pectoral fins very short, less than 1% of standard length. Colour: pigment absent. Size: 73-109 mm.
Habitat: holotype caught between 2000 meters and the surface while the other specimen was taken pelagically at 2100-2300 meters.Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.
Distribution: in the Northeast Atlantic.
