Diagnosis: a three-bearded rockling with a small head (19-22% SL), snout weakly rounded, inter-orbital broad and flat; eye diameter always less than inter-orbital. Barbels long, the nasal pair always longer than orbit diameter. Second dorsal finrays 53-59; pectoral finrays 20-22; anal finrays 41 48. Vertebrae 17-18 + 33-36. Colour: in life, head, back and sides light brick red, belly tinted red with blue-grey tinge. Size: to 34 cm SL.
Habitat: offshore in deep water of 400-1,600 m, always over mud or soft bottoms. Food: no data. Reproduction: no data.
Distribution: off south-eastern coasts of Greenland. Elsewhere, southern and south-western coasts of Greenland and off eastern North America.
