Tetraodontiformes

Tetraodontiformes have no parietals, nasals, infraorbitals or lower ribs. The hyomandibular and the palatine are firmly united with the skull. The maxillaries are usually fused with the premaxillaries. The scales are modified into shields, spines or plates. Most produce a toxin named tetrodotoxin.
