Genus Barathronus

Barathronus Goode and Beane, 1886

Eyes deep-set: mouth oblique. Palatine teeth present. Pectoral peduncle as long as broad; pelvic fins present. Vertebral centra in adults spindleshaped.
Adults of this genus are most probably living on or near the bottom at bathyal and abyssal depths. Viviparous.
