Cetomimiformes
Cetomimiformes have a more or less, oblong or ovate body with a large head. The mucous cavities are usually well developed. Hyoid barbels sometimes present. The mouth is usually oblique and large. The teeth are small, villiform, in a band. There are one or two supramaxillaries. The premaxillaries are protractile. the dorsal, anal and pelvic fins usually have spines the caudal fin has 16-17 branched rays. There are 7-8 branchiostegal rays. The pelvic fins are subabdominal or subthoracic, with usually one spine and seven soft rays.
