Genus Belone

Belone Cuvier, 1816

Body moderately compressed; caudal peduncle not depressed, without any lateral keel. Lower jaw a little longer than upper. Gillrakers well developed. Anterior lobes of dorsal and anal fins moderate; caudal fin strongly forked. Vertebrae 75-84. Scales small. Juveniles with greatly elongated lower jaw, without black posterior dorsal fin lobe.
