Bothus Rafinesque, 1810
Body very flat and deep. Upper angle of gill opening a short distance above pectoral fin; the membrane joining the operculum to the pectoral fin scaleless. Lateral line only developed on eyed side, with a distinct curve above the pectoral fin; a bifurcated supra-temporal branch behind upper eye.
